Life School Oak Cliff has qualified a significant group of student-athletes for the UIL Regional Track and Field Meet following a strong showing at the Area competition. Regional competition will be held May 1–2 at Whitehouse Wildcat Stadium.
The Lions earned multiple Area titles, including three championship performances. Kylan Gardner claimed the Area Shot Put Championship with a throw of 54'06" and also finished as Area Discus Runner-Up. Hailey Turner won the Area 100m Hurdles Championship with a time of 15.59 seconds. The Girls 4x200m Relay team of Ja’Kayla Johnson, Josiyah Jones, Carma Ramsey, and Caitlyn Chiles also brought home an Area title.
In addition to the champions, Izayah Thomas earned Area Runner-Up honors in the 100m dash, and the Boys 4x100m Relay team (Jeremiah Wilson, Joshua Washington, Tim-Bright Ndakwah, and Izayah Thomas) finished as Area Runners-Up.
Additional regional qualifiers representing the Lions include Hailey Turner in the 300m Hurdles, Arthur Washington in the 110m Hurdles, Jasmine Howard in the Girls Shot Put, Ke'Derek Wilson in Boys Discus, Carma Ramsey in the 100m dash, and the Girls 4x100m Relay team of Hailey Turner, Caitlyn Chiles, Josiyah Jones, and Carma Ramsey.
"It was awesome watching our student-athletes not only compete at a very high level but how they interacted and displayed sportsmanship with not only their own teammates but the other schools as well," said Scott Thrush, Life School Director of Athletics.
